2026 Audiovisuelle interaktive Experience
2026 Audiovisual Interactive Experience
[BIRDS CHIRPING IN THE GARDEN] is a site-specific audiovisual installation located in the backyard garden of the Haus Berneburg in Kassel. Based on a soundwalk, loud and quiet sounds from the outdoor environment were discovered and transmitted into an indoor Camera Obscura. Inside, these sounds acquire new layers of meaning through captions—much like in a film.
The work combines a fixed-media sound installation with projection: hidden speakers in the garden play back pre-recorded sound loops at varying, compositionally determined intervals. Indoors, these sounds merge with projected words and images to create multiple perspectives, stories, and imaginary sonic spaces of the garden. In this way, the interior and exterior are linked into a shared experience.
[BIRDS CHIRPING IN THE GARDEN] opens up a new perspective on noise pollution in a typical German city center and on the garden as a place of recreation close to nature. The installation makes the inseparable coexistence of artificial and natural sounds audible—reflecting growth and destruction in our society and serving as a call for a more conscious approach to both acoustic and ecological spaces.
